Mr Rory Beattie

Mr Rory Beattie is a Thoracic Surgeon in the Belfast Trust and based at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cambridge and King’s College, London, before returning home to Belfast in 2009.
Mr Beattie completed his specialist training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital in 2019 before working as a Thoracic Surgery Fellow in Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.
Rory returned as a consultant surgeon at the Belfast Trust in August 2020. He manages the entire spectrum of thoracic surgical pathology, with a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery. Outside theatre, Rory leads undergraduate teaching in Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery Lead for Patient Safety and Governance and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast. Nationally, he is Deputy Co-Chair of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery (SCTS) Thoracic Subcommittee and on Council for the Royal Society of Medicine Cardiothoracic Section.
